retro photo month :: day fifteen

I didn’t spend long in Blue Birds, and by the next year my family had moved to yet another Dallas suburb and I found myself in Girl Scouts. My sister joined Brownies at the same time. I don’t remember that scouts lasted very long with me — I think my sisters may have gone further — but I do have good memories from that period of time. It’s true that scout organizations are great for kids, I just never had much interest in group activities, being very much into my own mind and the worlds within books throughout my entire life. But the uniforms were cool, eh? I’m especially enamored with that little pouch on the belt! And what’s cooler than a beret?
