- D’s undying support of the Texas Rangers and embrace of baseball
- visiting the Children’s Aquarium with our Dubya
- joining D’s third grade field trip to Chestnut Square and learning town history
- Thanksgiving with extended family and family friends, a total of 20 people
- K2′s Yankee year
- Kiwi’s lakeside birthday celebration
- Kiwi’s constant Facebook posts with nothing but song lyrics and random shout-outs that include no identifying names
- celebrating the publishing (finally!) of a novel written by my best friend
- hanging out with my friend Mere and sharing free stuff with each other
- making the most of unemployment by hanging out with my parents and staying a few days in their RV
- birthday four-one and treating myself to a special piece of cake
- an honest-to-goodness winter, including a spring SNOWSTORM… right here in North Texas!
- reconnecting with a high school acquaintance who is responsible for first opening my eyes to how people see me, thus changing my personality forever
- making the most of social networking by connecting with another high school classmate for the first time ever
- Christopher Nolan’s Inception
- the continued brilliance-slash-insanity of Mad Men
- the short run of Rubicon, which brought James Badge Dale back into my world
- behind-the-scenes at Christmas Journey
- faith, faith, and more faith… without fear
- playing the game of Life with D
- hanging out with D during impromptu afternoons and planned sleepovers
- another Narnia viewing with K2, one of our main traditions
- movies at the cinema with Mom and Dad
- noticing the clouds and stunning artistry in the skies
- finally getting to see a live production of Wicked and taking Kiwi for her 16th birthday
- feeling true creative sparks during the last half of the year
- developing better relationships with my sisters and recovering from sister-fights much more quickly than ever before
- not having to pay for movies all year long
- purchasing a laptop and getting this MacGirl out of a Windows world
- seeing the Texas Rangers, my first favorite team in life, in the World Series… and being okay that it wasn’t my current-favorite Yankees — there’s always next year!
- surviving my first 24-hour read-a-thon
- discovering the music of Garth Brooks, Blake Shelton, Josh Turner, Jason Aldean, Chris Young, and the Zac Brown Band
- getting creative and making dollar store Christmas gifts
- teaching myself to let go of things that don’t matter and things that clutter
- developing a strong friendship with D
- sharing a love of baseball with K2 — It’s about time, dude!
- sharing a love of 80s music with Kiwi
- getting to know Dubya better than ever before
- experiencing the best year of friendship EVER — Thanks for being you, Cerella!
- using my camera as a tool for learning to SEE the world around me
